Sgt. James S. Collins, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Our son, Sgt. James S. Collins, was killed in Kirkuk, Iraq on August 28, 2007. Jim was in the Marine Corp for 6 years serving at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and all over the world on the Carriers Nassau and Theodore Roosevelt. After leaving the Marines, Jim earned a criminal justice degree from Lake Superior State and attended the OCC Police Academy. After his graduation from the academy, the call of the military was too strong to resist and he became a full time Army reservist. Jim was serving with the 303rd Military Police Unit out of Jackson, MI at the time of his death. We wanted to honor his memory in this special way. Because Jim was so proud to serving in an MP unit, we feel he would have loved knowing that his name will be on a scholarship that will help young men and women serve their communities as CJ or police professionals.
