Madison Heights Lodge 551 Endowed Scholarship

This fund is established by the Northwood Ancient-Craft Lodge 551 of Free and Accepted Masons of Madison Heights to encourage achievement and continued progress and to provide assistance to students in financing their training at the Oakland Fire Training Institute or the Oakland Police Academy at Oakland Community College.

Criteria
This award will alternate annually between applicants from the Oakland Police Academy and the Oakland Fire Training Institute. To be eligible for this award, applicants must:

  • MUST Be enrolled in either the Oakland Police Academy or the Oakland Fire Training Institute at Oakland Community College.
  • MUST Have demonstrated financial need (determined by the OCC administrators of the Academy or the Institute)
  • MUST have demonstrated leadership qualities (determined by the OCC administrators of the Academy or the Institute)
  • MUST be available to meet the donors at an informal dinner in their honor at the donors’ lodge, within six months of graduation, on a date that is mutually agreeable for the
    lodge and the recipient.
  • MUST be used for tuition, books, uniforms and/or equipment
  • MUST write a thank-you letter to the donor.
  • MUST NOT be an OCC employee or family member receiving tuition reimbursement
  • MUST NOT be a College guest student, high school guest student or high school dual enrolled student

Preference will be given to residents of Madison Heights or Royal Oak, Michigan, or cadets whose employment is pending with the Madison Heights or Royal Oak Police or Fire Departments. In the absence of such candidates, preference will be given to residents of other Southeastern Oakland County or Southwestern Macomb County communities.
