Bennett & Wahlman Endowed Scholarship
To be eligible for this award, applicants:
MUST be a member in good standing of the OCC Forensic Team.
A member in good standing means:
a. The student meets the eligibility requirements of the National Forensic Association and MISL. (That includes being enrolled at OCC with at least 3 credits. Students who have already received a
Bachelor’s degree is not eligible.)
b. The student participates in 2 to 4 Forensics Tournaments a semester and one fundraising activity a year. The forensic tournament schedule runs during the fall and winter semesters.
c. At each forensic tournament, the student must have at least two fully prepared events.
d. After each tournament, the student & the forensic advisor must discuss changes to the performances/speeches and the student must implement those changes before the next tournament.
MUST be used for tuition or books
MUST fulfill her/his obligation, then s/he may forfeit her/his rights to the monies.
MUST write a thank-you letter to the donor.
MUST NOT be an OCC employee or family member receiving tuition reimbursement
MUST NOT be a College guest student, high school guest student or high school dual enrolled student
*Recipients will be selected by the forensic advisor(s) and/or the speech discipline members on the home campus of the forensic team. *
Preference may also be given to students who show financial need.
Preference is given to the students who have previously worked with the OCC Forensic Team, another forensic program, the OCC Performance Studies Festival, or to students who have demonstrated excellence in the field.
